The Wellington Creative Fibre Area extends from Levin across to Masterton and south to Cook Straight – 17 groups meet regularly, sharing and learning new skills. Teaching workshops are offered over a wide range of the textile disciplines ranging from rank beginners to the more experienced. These include spinning, knitting, felting, weaving, textile jewellery, tapestry weaving, crochet and textile art from. Often a mixture of techniques is used in one piece of work. The small groups exhibit on a regular basis and the whole area has a major exhibition biennially. Please feel free to contact the Area Delegate for any further information.
We are a friendly group who love to spin, knit, weave, felt, crochet, and dye with a wide range of natural fibres – wool, silk, alpaca – we love it all!
If you would like to become part of the amazing world of fibrecrafts, visit our Facebook page to see what’s going on in our group. We meet regularly to share ideas and skills, learn from one another, enjoy each other’s company, and visitors are always welcome.
We meet on Tuesdays 10.00am – 2.00pm for general activities, spinning, knitting, dyeing (sometimes) and general chit chat, in our own club rooms situated just outside of Foxton township. Once a month, on the third Thursday, we try to have a weaving day where we work on our own projects or maybe a club project. We also have a small felting group that meets on Wednesdays at 10.00am.
Meets: Foxton Town & Country Spinners & Weavers, 204 Foxton-Shannon Road
