Spinning, Weaving, Dye days, Show and tell, Club projects.
As well as knowledgeable members in the crafts of spinning and weaving who are willing to share their expertise, the club has an excellent library, and equipment for hire. Classes occur from time to time, and speakers attend the monthly meetings.
Visitors are very welcome. Open to anyone, beginners and experienced who are interested in the crafts of spinning fibre to yarn, including paper, flax or other. Knitting, crochet, weaving, dyeing, braiding and shibori. A friendly supportive group, we welcome new members young and old.
This is a craft club where you learn or teach any craft any member wishes to do. Spinning, knitting, crochet, tatting, needlework are some of the crafts practiced within the club.
We also have an enthusiastic weaving group which meets monthly in the St Luke’s Church Hall. We have a yearly programme covering fibre-related subjects of interest to members and we aim to help our members with any problems which arise and stimulate their interest in our craft with sharing of ideas in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Visitors are welcome.
With an average of 12 members in our group, we meet every alternate Monday, except public holidays. We meet in the Emanuel Church Hall in Sawyers Bay which is very warm and well lit. We have great facilities and a working kitchen. There is also an extra room for food tables if we have a larger group than usual, such as when we host the Otago area meeting, or members from other groups.
This group is one of four which own and run the Creative Arts Centre in Balclutha. We run exhibitions, work days, and lots of social days, to learn all about fibre.
Taieri Spinners and Weavers/Creative Fibre are an enthusiastic and friendly group of people who meet up regularly. Our interests are many and varied, from spinning and weaving, knitting and crochet, felting, and any other fibrecraft that takes our fancy.
We have three formal meetings a year, and social days (at the Mosgiel Presbyterian Church) two or three times a month, where people can bring along whatever projects they are working on. Be inspired by show and tell, and have some fun with our auction table where members donate and buy all sorts of items. We often have classes and mini-workshops at these social days.
Our weavers meet up once a month at a member’s home, and our spinners have a home based get-together too. We also have an monthly evening meeting to cater for those members who can’t come during the day. We have a library of books, dvd’s, magazines and equipment for members to use.
This chatty vibrant group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 11am–3pm at the Community Hub, McDougal Street, Wanaka.
We welcome members and visitors to share time spinning, knitting, crochet, felting , needlework etc.
Weaving is taught in a member’s home and we have dyeing days there too.
We emphasise we are not just a knitting group, so whether you are a beginner or an expert working with anything fibre related, please come and join us.
We have all the equipment you need to get started.
