The New Zealand Spinning, Weaving and Woolcrafts Society Inc. (Creative Fibre) has established an annual award for new spinners, to promote the development of spinning. The selected recipient receives $100 to be used for resources such as equipment, fibre, books or further spinning education.

Conditions of Entry

• The entrant must be a New Zealand resident member and a current member of Creative Fibre.
• A new spinner is defined as someone who has moved beyond the basics, has been spinning for less than two years, and shows enthusiasm to extend their spinning skills.
• The applicant must present a portfolio with samples of five of more spun skeins using a variety of techniques and project notes which should include fibre choice, fibre preparation, techniques, finishing process, design inspirations and an indication of their possible uses.
• The portfolio should also include the courses the applicant has attended and details of any mentors.
• The form and amount of documentation is up to the applicant.
• The winning portfolio is to be displayed at the following national event and the award presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Society.

There will be two selectors for the award and the selectors decision is final.

Applications by 1 March of each year to the national president.
