The Certificate in Design 1 course is intended to be of value to all fibre workers, whatever medium you work in. The course provides experience and encourages awareness of a design process rather than develop techniques of your craft. The course includes six modules, each of which explores different aspects of the design process.
For this course you will be advised to purchase some stationery e.g. A4 drawing pad, A4 Visual Diary, drawing and coloured pencils, a rubber, some colour media, a glue stick.

This course builds on the knowledge and skills you have learned in the first course, Certificate in Design 1. You are challenged to apply the whole design process to produce a finished item of your own, fit for purpose and at a competent level for exhibition. There is a research component about design history to this course also.
Learning outcomes – on successfully completing this course you will be able to:
- Research design trends.
- Investigate and decide on a concept for the design of your own fibre item.
- Sample and complete your selected fibre item.
- Plan a virtual exhibition that has your completed item at its centre.
For this course you will need stationery as required for the first design course.
