Máximo Laura is an award winning tapestry weaver who is internationally recognised as one of South America’s pre-eminent and most unique textile artists. In 2010 he was designated as one of Peru’s Living Treasures by UNESCO.

Máximo will be visiting New Zealand from the beginning of July until the middle of August. He will be tutoring four fully residential workshops, holding lectures and exhibiting his work at Pataka Gallery in Porirua.

Four residential workshops will be offered – one in Hamilton at Houchen House and three in Wellington at Silverstream Retreat. Each workshop will include the same topics. A limited number of non-residential places may be available.

Maximo will be holding lectures at the venues in Hamilton and Wellington. Additional lectures will be held in Auckland and Christchurch if there is sufficient interest (at least 50 attendees). For information contact education@creativefibre.org.nz.

Exhibition of Work
An exhibiton of Maximo’s work will be displayed in Porirua at Pataka Toi Gallery from: Friday 21st July to Sunday 27th August 2017
